Coming Soon: Bunnings Hotel

If you dream of being first in line for a Saturday morning Bunnings sausage sizzle, this new store will definitely help,

Hotel chain Accor will build a 183-room Mercure, complete with a restaurant, rooftop pool and fitness centre, above a new double-storey Bunnings in Doncaster, Victoria.

Construction of the first stage of the long-mooted development at 659 Doncaster Rd began last month.

The initial permit was for 100 apartments but a hotel has now been approved, with 183-rooms, complete with a restaurant, rooftop pool and fitness centre.

Accor Pacific Chief Operating Officer Simon McGrath said “With the Victorian Government focused on decentralising business outside of the CBD, Doncaster has been identified as a growing pocket of Melbourne in need of new hotel supply.”

Construction has started on the site and the two-storey store will cost $90 million to construct while the hotel will cost $70 million.

The store will span more than 11,000 square metres including two levels of basement parking with 335 spaces, a playground, cafe and click and collect services.

Bunnings has confirmed more than 180 team members are expected to be employed at the new warehouse when it opens, with more than 700 people involved in the construction.

“Accor is excited to bring the internationally recognised Mercure brand with its warm local hospitality to Doncaster.”

The hotel and store will open in the second half of 2021.
