In the 10 years we've been married, I've never cooked for my wife

Yesterday, *Sandy came home from a busy day at the hospital where she works as a nurse and asked her husband *Paul to cook dinner.

He immediately said no and continued what he was doing, surprised by his wife’s question.

She knows as well as he does that in the 10 years they've been together, Paul has never cooked a single meal for his wife.

But last night, Sandy had finally had enough. “She blew up at me and started crying because of it. She then went on a rant, calling me useless and all,” Paul posted on Reddit.

“I told her that she was insane, if she wanted to make such a big deal about cooking. After the argument, I just went to the guest bedroom and slept. Anyways, we haven’t talked to each other since.”

Why Paul refuses to cook for his wife

One of the reasons Paul refused to cook is because he and Sandy live pretty comfortably and have been able to hire a maid to cook for them and their two kids.

Also, Paul, who works as a surgeon, doesn’t spend much time at the house and is usually so tired from surgery that he simply comes home to sleep.

But the main reason Paul refuses to cook for his wife is because of something that happened during his childhood.

“My grandfather is a chef and when I was younger, he’d teach me how to cook very well,” he explained.

“Since he’d teach me, my mom made me cook meals for the whole family at a young age. I f**king hated it.

“I have to make a meal and then listen to my whole family comment on it and then I was finally able to eat my food. Cooking is really un-enjoyable for me now. Sounds stupid but it kinda f**ked me up.”

Family reacts to husband's cooking confession

Obviously, Paul has explained this too Sandy, but she still doesn’t really understand why he was so traumatised by the experience.

To make matters worse, Paul’s family also continually talk about how good his cooking was and how much they all miss it.

“I’ve asked them not to but they do,” Paul added.

“I’ve told her that cooking for people makes me uncomfortable.

“This morning, I received a call from SIL telling me to stop being a pussy and to cook a meal. I said no, hung up and the whole family is upset.

“To be honest, the fact that they make such a big deal out of it makes me not want to even consider cooking a meal for my wife.”
