Iron Maiden have cancelled their Australian tour

The postponement is now a cancellation

Bad news for metal fans in Australia: Iron Maiden have cancelled their Australian tour.

The dates, which were initially supposed to happen this month, were postponed around the outbreak of the coronavirus.

But that postponement has sadly become a cancellation as the band and promoters are unable to organise a suitable time for the tour to be rescheduled.

The band's manager Rob Smallwood has offered the following statement to fans.

"As you know, we were due to be with you shortly for the May shows and we are all very disappointed that we can’t get to see you all as originally planned," he wrote.

"However we do promise our fans that we will get down to see you when we reasonably can. We love touring in your beautiful countries, where we always feel very much at home and welcome.

"Hopefully I can tell you more later this year when things should become clearer. Take care of yourselves, be safe and be smart."

This was to be Maiden's third trip to Australia in the past decade, after headlining Soundwave in 2011 and playing arenas across the country in 2016.
