The trailer has arrived for Greenland, a movie that probably won’t do much to help you relax during this particular period of history.
Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin star in this disaster thriller, which follows a family’s fight to get to Greenland bunkers as comet fragments – preceding a big mofo – collide with the Earth. Roger Dale Floyd and Scott Glenn also star.
The trailer has some eerie similarities to what’s been happening in our real world, as many of us looked at those early reports of COVID-19 with little concern and the subsequent media info has been frustratingly inconsistent.
Still, this is a disaster movie, and on that simple end, it looks like a solid one. While the quality of the FX seem to vary, there appear to be some pretty big disaster sequences amidst the ‘people be crazy during disasters’ drama.
The film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh, whose credits include prison dramas Felon and Shot Caller, as well as last year’s Gerard Butler threequel Angel Has Fallen. The screenplay is by Chris Sparling (Buried, The Sea of Trees).
Greenland opens in Australian and New Zealand cinemas on August 13th.
