Mazda debuts RX-Vision GT3 Concept

Mazda has released the RX-Vision GT3 Concept but you can't drive it. Not physically, anyway.

The car is only digitally available on Gran Turismo Sport and is powered by a four-rotor SkyActiv-R engine inspired by the unit that powered the endurance 787B racer.

The RX-Vision GT3 makes 420kW/700Nm and weighs 1250kg, so it should be quite a quick racer. Peak power is made at 9000rpm too so it'll sound great too.

Mazda New Zealand Managing Director, David Hodge says the lock down under COVID-19 has resulted in several racing competitions developing a virtual online series featuring top names in motorsport and these have been very popular with race fans.

“It is fantastic that Gran Turismo enthusiasts now have the chance to select the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 to race. It is a great looking vehicle that I am sure will appeal to drivers.”

Gran Turismo Sport players who use Mazda vehicles like the RX-Vision GT3 Concept will automatically be granted seed rights to participate in the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championship (world tours) to be held in various locations around the world in the 2020 season.

Players can also use the RX-Vision GT3 Concept to participate in an esports competition at Japan’s 2020 National Sports Festival cultural program in Kagoshima prefecture.

In addition, to commemorate Mazda’s 100-year anniversary, Mazda has started to offer various online events, which people who enjoy Gran Turismo Sport can participate in.
