SEX COACH? SEX THERAPY? SEX COUNCILLOR? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE AND WHAT DO THEY DO?
MisJif (pictured) is a qualified sex coach based in Sydney here she writes about what a sex coach does and how she can help.
A lot of people ask me what is a sex coach, and how can I help?
There are many forms of Sex Coaching, but I use a somatic hands-on form of Sex Therapy in Sydney. This is an alternative form of Sex Therapy as opposed to a traditional Sex Therapist or Sex Councillor.
Sex Therapists help individuals and couples resolve sexual difficulties, such as performance anxiety or relationship problems. Sex Therapists also help with post-trauma issues and mismatched libidos. As a Sex Coach, based in Sydney, I help individuals and couples resolve sexual difficulties; however, I don't offer relationship advice. If in doubt, please contact me and I can help point you in the right direction.
Whereas Sex Counselling is often aimed at married couples, who are working through relationship and sexual issues as a couple. Instead, I work with individuals looking to be coached in ways to get more from their sex life in an individual basis. Even though I may be based in Sydney, I travel around NSW running hands-on sexual workshops.
I have formal qualifications in Adult Education, Sexology (Curtin University) and Sexual Health (University of Sydney). I am also a certified Sexological Bodyworker and Somatic Sexology expert.
Sex Coaching goes beyond the limits of traditional Sex Therapy; I help my clients find a full menu of exciting and pleasurable erotic experiences.
To get to the bottom of what is troubling you a more nuanced exploration necessary. Tackling this journey is much more efficient with an experienced Sex Coach on your side. If you want to get a sculpted body, you hire a personal trainer. If you want your marketing to be better, you hire a marketing consultant. If you're going to be a great lover, why wouldn't you hire a sex coach?
Think of me as a personal trainer for your sex life. I work with clients to expand their sexual repertoire and empower them to feel more sexually confident and connected and give them the tools and support to overcome sexually related matters.
Whether you've been in a long term relationship and feel like you've lost the spark or you're just genuinely not confident in bed, a sex coach is always a great way to help you with whatever issues you may be suffering from.
The desire to have sex is natural, but the skills to be a great lover aren't. The truth is that people need to learn how to have great sex. Social animals like humans learn skills through modelling and explicit instruction.
Since sex is something that is shamed in our culture, talking about it or giving explicit instruction remains rare. A few people will be lucky enough to have a partner that can teach them.
Unfortunately, most people don't give feedback, so many people end up not knowing what makes for great sex. This is where working with a good sex coach can be very helpful. Sex is learnable and teachable. The best way to learn about it is to get feedback from an experienced, non-judgmental sex coach.
For most people, hiring a sex coach will be one of the few ways they can get real-time and accurate Instruction on how to be a better and more receptive lover while learning about both the physiology and psychology of sex.
